Sami wants to marry her Daddy. It’s the sweetest thing. “He’s just the best Daddy in the whole world” she tells me. It’s cute to see her discover that love = marriage. but in this marriage, Daddy’s still Daddy, and she’s not becoming his wife, so I think we’re all good : – ) Tonight she wore her “wedding dress” (the dress she wore in Auntie Erin & Uncle Casey’s wedding) on her date, and Daddy dressed up, too! They went to Scott’s Dairy Freeze for a grilled cheese and ice cream. When Fred was off playing hockey and I was putting her to bed, she told me “Daddy and I got married. We even danced. But don’t ask him about that part. The dancing I mean.” Sami is very competitive. I mean she has a tizzy if you get to the bottom of the stairs before she does. And I’m getting hints that there’s a little part of her that thinks the fact that I’m married to Daddy and not her is somehow something she needs to compete for – a loss she somehow needs to recover. It will be fun to show her these pictures of her wedding dress later in life, and ask her if she’ll be adding a pink Hello Kitty sweatshirt and brown patent boots to her wedding ensemble :- )
