I came home from work tonight, and the house was quiet. Then, I see Fred strolling down the sidewalk with Jojo on his shoulders, sporting a fresh new little boy buzz! Fred is so good with Jojo haircuts – he has the guts to go short. I’m too wimpy, but I always love it when I see it! I’m trying to figure out if this makes him look more like a baby, or more like a big boy. I think the answer is both, depending on the look he gives me. It’s so funny getting used to your kid with a new haircut – every outfit looks different. Fred said, let’s take off his sweatshirt and check out his look. Then, no shirt. Then, jammies. So stinkin cute. Here are a bunch of pics of the no shirt look.

A letter to Jojo on his 2nd Birthday
My dear, sweet Joey,
Happy 2nd Birthday! What a joy you are, my snuggly, cuddly, silly little son. You are learning and discovering so fast these days, and inspiring me to do the same. You are counting…(slow, drawn out pronunciation) one, two, (fast pace) free, foh, five, sih, seben. You love to pretend you are a puppy, and crawl around panting and whining like a puppy, sometimes a ruff-ruff, or a frog (srong), hopping around on your hands and feet saying “ribbet” and “hop”. You have a new trick, which is batting your eyes at me when and asking “cuddle” when you should be laying down in your crib and going ni-night. And you sucker me into taking you to my bed and cuddling. But you hate the covers over you – you get kinda feisty and kick, so you get put back in your crib. We have a special ni-night dance song we sing. You stand on your “diaper-zone” loft and hug me around my neck while we sway back and forth and sing “Ni-night, ni-night dance, ni-night dance with my baby boy.” and you sing along “ni-night boy”. Our favorite book is Good Night, Moon. We read together – I say the “there were’s” and the “good nights”, and you say the things in the room. Your favorite ones are “mush”, (whisper) “hush” and “nobody”. We play a game throughout the day where I say lines like “and the quite old lady was whispering” and you say “hush”. You know like every animal on the planet. And you know planets, and rocket ships. You LOVE Dora…you say “D-D-Dora” just like her song. And you love the Backyardigans like your sister did. You pronounce each syllable very slowly – Back-yar-di-gans. I play the CD in the car and after every song you say and sign “more”. You have the best manners, my sweet boy. You say “thank you” unprompted almost every time someone hands you something, or tells you they will go get something for you. And the way you say it just too cute – you kind of sing “you”. “Thank Youuuu”. You are also quick to say “I sorry mama” or “I sorry Daddy”, especially after a time out. And I think you kind of like time outs. Maybe you think they’re cool because your sister gets them a lot. You get your fair share, too, my little friend. Your favorite ways to be naughty involve crayons, pens and pencils. The world is your canvas. And somehow you always get your paws on those darn princess pens of Sami’s that do not wash out! Thankfully our old Ikea kitchen table and hardwood floors in desperate need of refinishing only get more charming with your artwork. Your other nasty habit involves your poop and throwing it if you are left unattended for a minute after a nap without a onesie – eeeew Jojo! I keep telling your Daddy we need to take a picture of one of your poop masterpieces to share at your wedding, but he protects you and insists not. You love to play with balls, and name each kind – soccer ball, basketball, football. And you love playing with cars and trucks and scooting them around…you always have. You love the park, and riding on your tricycle. And you love your new Little Tikes cop car, and your Plasma Car that you call your tractor. You LOVE the bath, and and jump up and down and say “bubble bath” and run upstairs when it’s bath time. Then you love to splash, turn the bathroom floor into a lake, and pretend your at Great Wolf on waterslides. You love running around naked after the bath. You get really bummed when I put your diaper back on. But let me tell ya buddy, if you didn’t run around and pee on the carpet I’d let you run around naked longer ; – ) You love books and our night time story time. And I love reading them to you. You are very opinionated though – if I try to read a book that isn’t on your list you’ll say a firm “no” and push it away. And then when your favorite comes up you get excited and say “Yay!”. You are so cute when you pray “Pray Dada, Pray Sissie, Pray Jojo, Pray Mommy”, and your are extra sweet when you say “thank you, Jesus”. There is so much to love about you, but I think my favorite thing is when you say “I love you”, or “I love you Mommy”. You look at me, and sometimes hug and cuddle (your hugs are so strong and yummy), and say it. I know you mean it. And I mean it more than words can say. I love you my sweet boy, Happy Birthday. Thank you for all the joy you bring me every single day.
All my love,
Mommy
